How to Make THC Vape Juice At Home

If you've been vaping THC for a while, you know that the process of finding a vape juice that's right for you can be overwhelming.

There are so many different brands and flavors to choose from, but not all of them are going to give you the experience you're looking for. Some will be too strong or too weak; some will taste like candy or fruit, which makes them more appealing to some users than others; some will leave your mouth feeling dry after use and others will leave your mouth feeling sticky and uncomfortable.

So if you’re looking for the best way to find a vape juice that works for you, look no further than making your own. In this guide, we will teach you everything you need to know about how to make your own THC vape juice at home!

What is THC Vape Juice?

THC vape juice is a type of cannabis extract that is used to make vapor. The THC vape juice that is available for purchase in the US is usually made from cannabis flowers, which are then extracted using CO2. This process produces a concentrated form of the plant's active ingredients—THC and CBD—that can be used in a variety of ways.

The most common way that people consume THC vape juice is by inhaling it as vapor, which can be done with either an e-cigarette or a vaporizer. Both devices use heat to convert the liquid into a gas, which you then inhale through your mouth and nose.

This method has become increasingly popular among people who use cannabis recreationally because it allows them to get high without smoking anything or causing any negative health effects associated with smoking.

Benefits of Making Your Your Own Vape Juice

You Can Fine-tune the Amount of THC in your Juice

You Can Your Juice's THC Content

One of the most exciting things about making your own THC vape juice is that you can fine-tune the amount of THC in your juice. The potency of THC varies depending on the strain and quality of cannabis used, so it’s important to be able to adjust how much THC you want in your vape pen. While some people prefer a more mild dose and some enjoy a stronger dose, everyone should have the ability to control their own experience by choosing how much THC they want in their juice.

You Can Add Flavors of Your Choice

When you make your own THC vape juice, you can choose the flavors of your choice without having to worry about them being harmful or having any side effects on your health. When you produce your own vape juice at home, you have full control over what goes into it, so if you're allergic to food or drink, this won't be an issue as long as you use natural ingredients or extracts.

You Know Exactly What You're Vaping

When you make your own vape juice, though, you can control exactly what goes into it. That means no artificial colors, no artificial flavors—just the essentials.

You can also control the potency of the product, which is great if you need a little extra help kicking your smoking habit or if you want to find a new way to relax after work without resorting to high-caffeine energy drinks or alcohol.

Three Ways to Make THC Vape Juice

Long-term Steeping Method for Making THC Vape Juice

    Long-term Steeping or Extraction

Long-term steeping or extraction is an easy way to make vape juice with THC. But it also takes the most amount of time, as you need around three months to do complete the process.

As a near-effortless process, this method is almost fool-proof, as there are only two (2) crucial phases here: decarboxylating your strain and mixing it with your VG and PG solution.

If you want to explore this technique, here are what you need:

      • Your favorite strain, with the quantity depending on the strength you want.
      • Food-grade Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG) mixture.
      • Baking tray or oven-safe bowl
      • Aluminum foil
      • Oven
      • Glass jar with airtight lid
      • Rice press
      • Cheesecloth
      • Stirrer
      • Syringe
      • Bottle to store your final output

    1. The first thing you need to do is grind your buds, but don’t overdo it. You want the buds to be coarse but even. You want bigger bits, and not fine particles so that you can filter them properly at the end of the process.
    2. Now spread your coarsely ground buds on the baking tray or oven-safe bowl and cover with foil, and decarboxylate them so that you activate the THC in your strain.
    3. While you heat those herbs, you can work on your PG/VG solution. You can opt for a pre-mixed, but you can also buy them separately.

When making the solution, remember these points:

      • PG is responsible for bringing out flavor; and
      • VG makes your vape juice viscous and creates the thick clouds when vaped.

Given these, you would want to have a good balance of these two ingredients. You can try having a mixture of 60 percent VG and 40 percent PG for a good mix of flavor and thickness.
    4. After mixing these, if you plan to mask the smell of your vapors, you can add your masking flavor here.
    5. Once the decarboxylation is finished, let the buds cool down and transfer to your airtight jar.
    6. You can then add your VG/PG solution until the buds are covered in juice.
    7. Stir your solution and store it in a cool dark place for three (3) months. During the process, you will need to stir it every two (2) weeks to ensure even distribution. You may also add more VG/PG solution.
    8. Once you reach three (3) months, take out your mixture and give it a final stir. Then get your rice press and put it on top of another glass jar, and line it with a few layers of cheesecloth.
    9. You then pour your mixture into the rice press, cover with cheesecloth, and squeeze out the juice. The cheesecloth will serve as a filter to keep the particles of your buds from mixing into the final juice.
    10. You can now use this THC vape juice. You can use a syringe to apply to your e-cigarette or vaporizer.

    Fast-track Infusion

This process is not that different from the long-term or three-month infusion. You will need the tools listed above, plus a few more, such as:

      • A double boiler
      • Stove
      • Thermometer
      • Water

    1. To get started, grind and decarboxylate your buds, just like you would in the first step. Prepare your PG/VG solution, including any masking flavors.
    2. Then let the buds cool down, and pour in your solution in the jar until all the buds are fully submerged.
    3. Add water to the bigger reservoir of your double boiler, around half an inch deep. Then add water to the smaller container of the double boiler.
    4. Put your double boiler on the stove and heat it until you get a temperature of 220 degrees Fahrenheit.
    5. Add the jar with your buds mixture into the double boiler and let it hear up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. You need to keep this temperature constant and not let it go over, as this infuses the THC into the PG/VG solution.
    6. Once you reach the temperature at a steady level, keep it heating at that level for at least an hour. You can add more time if you want a more potent hit.
    7. You will need to mix in more PG/VG solutions during this phase, but don’t overdo it to prevent potency loss.
    8. If you think the mixture is already good enough for you, you can take it out of the double boiler and let it cool.
    9. Once the mixture is warm, take your rice press and cheesecloth and set it up as described in the long-term technique. Pour in your mixture with the cheesecloth acting as a strainer.
    10. You can also layer another cheesecloth to help you push out the solution.
    11. The filtered mixture is now your THC vape juice.

    Rosin Extracted THC Vape Juice

    Rosin Extracted THC Vape Juice

If you're looking for a way to make your own THC vape juice, then you'll want to know how to use rosin extraction. This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to make your own THC e-liquid.

To start, you can use any type of cannabis that has been decarboxylated (heat treated). You will also need a solventless extractor to apply heat and pressure to extract cannabis oil from raw material. But if you don’t know yet the best rosin press, thenthis guide will help you find the best rosin press in the market. These tools apply heat and pressure to extract cannabis oil from raw material.

To begin this process, here are what you need:

    • Your favorite cannabis buds or rosin
    • A Rosin press (you can omit this if you already have rosin)
    • Parchment paper
    • Pyrex glass
    • Wax liquidizer
    • Stirrer

      1. If you will still extract rosin, follow the instructions of the manufacturer of your rosin press. Collect the rosin in a clean container.
      2. Add 0.5 grams of your extracts and mix with a milliliter of your Wax Liquidizer in the Pyrex container. You can add more and remember to use the ratio of 1:2.
      3. Once you have enough on your Pyrex container, you will need to heat it.
      4. You can run the glass onto a lighter for a few seconds until it bubbles, and then mix.
Or, you can add a small amount of boiling water in a bowl and add your Pyrex container until it’s hot enough to mix easily.
      5. Once mixed, your THC vape juice is ready for vaping.

These steps are listed to serve as a guide in your foray to making your vape juice that’s infused with THC. The methods listed above in making THC vape juice can be modified as you deem fit to your preference.

You might not get it right the first time, but it takes practice to help you get the right mixture. That said, consider this article as your cheat sheet as you experiment with different flavor profiles of your buds and how they work as vape juice.
